Hey y’all! This will be my last post about pregnancy for awhile since I’m now 38 weeks pregnant! My next blog post will likely be my birth story. EEEEK! I can’t believe I’m already here! Almost all of my to-do lists are completed and I have everything I need so I feel very at peace and ready for whenever this baby decides he or she would like to come. With that being said, I’m also not in a rush!
How I’m Feeling..
I don’t know if its just because this is my first baby or if I just hit the pregnancy jackpot, but I’m doing amazing! The only pain I feel is lately at night I get a lot of pressure down below from the baby moving down. My midwife says this is GOOD because the baby’s head descending and putting pressure on my cervix will help me start to dilate. I’m all about starting prepare my body as much as possible before labor! Sometimes the baby will hit a nerve down there and send a sharp quick pain, but that is the worst of my complaints. The baby has officially “dropped” according to my own photographic evidence as well as my midwife’s measurements, so I’m experiencing much less heartburn now. Yay!! I don’t have any back or pelvic pain unless I sit down for too long. Luckily with all my to-do lists I’ve been up and about, and haven’t been sitting for extended periods of time so its not much of an issue! I sleep soundly through the night and don’t really wake up for anything until morning. I am starting to get more and more Braxton Hicks contractions lately, especially at night! These seem to be getting a bit stronger, but not “painful.” My prayer is that my labor will go as smoothly as my pregnancy has! I pray for a quick, safe, easy as possible labor every night! As of this morning, I have gained 18.4 lbs which I’m absolutely thrilled with as my plan was to keep my gain as low as possible as long as I was eating as much as I wanted and baby stays growing on track. Both of which are happening!

How I’m Preparing!
If you know me personally you know how much of a “prepper” I can be! My strong nesting instincts have been very helpful in giving me all the energy to get everything in the house ready! I’ve cleaned and organized everything like crazy! I followed this Nesting Like a Minimalist guide and minimized our entire apartment. If an item doesn’t serve a purpose or make us happy in some way it went to goodwill. I’m starting to really love the idea of minimalism, especially now having a baby! There is so much marketing to new parents trying to convince us of all the “stuff” we need and I think most of it is ridiculous. I find so much peace in having just the bare necessities and not having all the baby junk taking over our lives. It really does help me feel so much more content and less overwhelmed!! So organization and embracing minimalism have been a huge help for me in preparing the house and also preparing myself mentally. I’ve also been preparing by making tons of freezer meals for popping into the crockpot when I don’t feel like cooking! Having tons of food ready to go also makes me feel like I’ll be more on top of things once the baby is here!
I’ve been preparing myself by practicing relaxation techniques, praying specific prayers for my labor and delivery for the way I’d like it to go, reflecting on my Bible verse birth affirmations (you can find those here!), and by taking Gentle Birth Formula (affiliate link). This birth formula is a tincture of herbs that are designed to help a pregnant woman have an easier labor and delivery. This product claims to help a woman achieve advanced dilation before feeling discomfort, help the woman have less pain during labor and delivery, have a shorter and easier labor, and a faster recovery time as well. I know taking this formula is not a guarantee of any of these things, but it is highly recommended by my midwife, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive from so many women! Taking it is absolutely worth a shot for me and I pray that it works on all accounts!! I will definitely fill y’all in and let you know if I experience any of these benefits myself! First time moms tend to have longer labors so anything I can do to help shorten that I’m going to do. 😉 I’m also trying to keep doing lots of squats to strengthen my pelvic floor! I am so anxious to see how my labor goes! Not having a clue when I’ll go into labor, how painful it will be, or how long it will last is kind of frustrating for me as I like to be in control, but I’m trying to be open minded to however this birth is meant to happen and just roll with the punches!
Highlights of 3rd Trimester!
This trimester has been the fastest one for me! Probably because I’ve been keeping myself so busy with all the preparations! Time flies by when you’re busy! We didn’t do a whole lot of exciting things this trimester, but we did have two baby-q parties and were blessed by our families and friends and had a great time on both accounts celebrating the new baby!
Ryan and I FINALLY decided on names for our kid this week!! I had decided the girl name months ago, but we were completely undecided on a boy name until recently! Its so nice knowing our little one’s name! Even if we’re not sure which name it will be yet till we know gender.. I’m still not going to announce the name though until the baby is born, so you’ll have to be patient. 😉 I’m going to be so excited to announce our baby’s birth because it will be a birth announcement, gender announcement, and name announcement all at once! Talk about exciting!
Baby’s movements have been quite different the past couple months as the baby has gotten into optimal birthing position! The little random movements and kicks I used to feel are now replaced with feet (and possibly hands) jabbing me in my right side! Once the baby went head down, he/she has not moved from that position, so I feel all the kicks coming out of my right side, and they are often very hard! Sometimes the baby decides to stretch out and it feels like the feet are about to pop right out of my right obliques. I always have to push them back in.. Haha
That’s about it! Here’s a few photos of some other highlights of the 3rd trimester! Like some cute new Pink Blush clothes I’m obsessed with, a few shots from our second Baby-Q party, and a few photos from the total solar eclipse we got the privilege of experiencing last week!
This ADORABLE top is from Pink Blush maternity. Probably the last maternity item I choose from them until next pregnancy! Its kind of bittersweet!! Their maternity clothes are SO cute, but luckily they offer NON maternity clothes as well so I’ll still pick out cute things sometimes to share with you guys here on the blog! 🙂 Luckily this top will also work great for post pregnancy because of the flowy style! So I’ll definitely be wearing it more!!
Ryan and I at our last Baby-Q! 🙂
The total solar eclipse was AMAZING! We all kind of underestimated it and made fun of how big of a deal everyone was making it to be, but we ate our words once we experienced it, because it was truly spectacular!!
That’s it for now! I’ll write again once baby is here and tell you guys all about it! Pray for a safe healthy delivery! And for it to be as quick and painless as possible. 😉 (I know there will be pain, but humor me!)
To keep up with me outside of this blog be sure to follow me over on Instagram! I’ll post about the baby there first!
