Hi y’all! So sorry its been awhile since you’ve heard from me. I’ve been busy being too tired and lazy to post! Haha, just being honest. Today is the start of my second trimester and I’m so excited!! If I had a dollar for every person who told me how amazing the 2nd trimester will be I’d be rich, because literally everyone has told me this. I’m definitely expecting to have a miraculous few months, and you all had better be right!! 😉 I don’t post many personal updates to the blog because a big part of me wonders who even cares. But on the other hand, I always enjoy reading people’s pregnancy updates. So for those who are like me, this post is for you; and anyone else who is curious or nosey. 🙂
My Favorite Things About My First Trimester:
-Telling the grandparents! Getting to tell Ryan’s parents and my parents the big news was strangely nerve wracking and so much fun.
-Getting to hear the heartbeat at my first prenatal appointment we had on Tuesday! I honestly did not think I would be emotional about hearing a heartbeat, so I was really surprised when I started to tear up a little. I guess it was just the first moment it felt really REAL because I heard the actual baby! It was a tad overwhelming. I can’t feel or see (much of a) bump yet so this was the first tangible experience I’ve really had. Seeing Ryan smile at the sound of it made my heart melt too. 🙂
-My skin hasn’t been this clear since middle school. I suffered with hormonal acne as a teenager so I was sure I would battle it when I got pregnant. Nope. (At least not on my face. A few breakouts are popping up other places which I’m not thrilled about; just being real..) But the clear skin on my face has got me so happy.
The Worst Things About My First Trimester:
-Migraines. These started happening a few weeks ago. I’ve only had 4 so far but they really really sucked. My last one lasted over 24 hours. Luckily I discovered that if I feel a headache coming on a cup of coffee will take it away. I really didn’t want to be drinking a lot of coffee while pregnant, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Haha.. Tylenol has the equivalent of a cup of coffee’s worth of caffeine, so I figure a cup of organic coffee is healthier than Tylenol if I’m getting caffeine anyway. Plus, its delicious. Hopefully the migraines stay away now. I’m praying for that!
-Stomach Flu. Luckily I didn’t experience morning sickness! I experienced some mild nausea for a couple weeks but it was very manageable and I never threw up from it. Last week due to my poor pregnant immune system I caught a stomach flu and couldn’t keep food down for a couple days and was stuck in bed for awhile. It was pretty awful but it actually made me overwhelmed with gratitude that I didn’t have morning sickness where I was dealing with that daily. Two days was awful enough. Ladies who suffer from bad morning sickness, my heart goes out to you!
Lately I’ve been wanting asian food all the time. The last three places we went out to eat were a Mongolian grill, a Thai restaurant, and Panda Express. Give me all the stir fried asian food and potsticker dumplings. 🙂
None yet. It looks like I have for sure though!! The first month and a half I lost about 4-5 lbs. The second month and a half I gained it back so I’m basically still right around my “normal” weight. Supposedly this trimester is when I’m supposed to start blowing up a bit. :O
Right now I’m actually a bit in shock that I’m already a third of the way done. It went by insanely fast and I’m kinda terrified at how fast the rest of this will go. Ah! Sometimes I temporarily forget I’m pregnant, and then I remember and I’m like “Oh my gosh, I’m going to give birth and have a baby…like really soon! It will be here before we know it!” And I start to freak out, but Ryan is so calm and excited but relaxed about it and doesn’t freak out in the slightest, so that definitely helps me. I’m excited too, of course, but a lot of times there’s a bunch of those “OH MY GOSH” moments where I still can’t believe this is for real. Haha
What I’m Looking Forward to in the Second Trimester:
-ALASKA! Ryan and I are going to Alaska for a week to visit my sister who’s currently living there. I’ve never been anywhere that far away before and I’m soooo excited. Its like a photographer’s dream come true to see such beautiful wilderness and the mountains! I’m also so excited to see my sister. She’s my best friend and I only get to see her maybe once a year since she moved there! We will be doing lots of driving and sightseeing and photo-taking and eating all the best food. It will be such an adventure.
-Photoshoot with Twig & Olive!!! If you don’t follow Twig & Olive on Instagram, click that link and go do it now. They’re the best photographers everrrr and they have over 60K followers! Insane. I’ve been following them for awhile and when I saw that they’d be traveling to a few major cities, including Nashville, I had to email them. They will be here NEXT month and Ryan and I will be getting a few photos done by them. I won’t have a huge belly yet, but a little bump will be there in the photos and I just know they will turn out gorgeous.
-Feeling Great! I’m excited that I’m starting to already get some of my energy back and feel more like myself. I have a feeling I will love this part of pregnancy!
That’s about it! Let me know what stood out in your first trimester and how great the second trimester will be! 🙂
