Happy New Year!!! This is the time of year that bloggers everywhere write out their blogging goals for the new year. Most of them will aim to post more often and post consistently, grow their following, and make their blog more successful. I’m gonna be the oddball and not aim for any of those things.
Last year my goal was to post twice a week. Why?? Because all the studies show that the more times you post to your blog, the more engagement you get from readers. The more content you’re producing, the more views you’ll ultimately get. Successful bloggers tell you that if you want to be a success you must do these things and you must work HARD, otherwise you’ll be just another blogger in a sea of millions.. Everyone wants to stand out and have a voice and be successful and make more money.
This year I’m not going to promise to post more, and I’m not going to promise x amount of posts per week. My goal for my blog this year is for it to tie in seamlessly with my life. I don’t want to create work for myself. I’m not saying I want to be lazy, but I’m not going to create deadlines and stupid goals for myself and stress myself out for no good reason. The truth is, I don’t come up with brilliant recipes every week, and I don’t try out a new DIY beauty recipes constantly, and I’m not always doing projects that are blog-worthy. When I DO do these things I’ll be sure to share them with you all! But this year I promise not to stress out over “oh my goodness I haven’t posted to my blog in a week, I better come up with something!!” This year I promise no “filler” boring posts. If I post something I want it to be awesome and interesting or informative. I’ll only post things that I would love to read myself on another blog. This year I promise that everything I post will be worth your time in checking it out!
We put so much pressure on ourselves to do a good job because we don’t want to fail. I’ve been blessed with a few semi “viral” blog posts that keep my views up even when I’m too busy to post. Those types of viral posts don’t happen when I’m scrambling to come up with content so I can have something to post. They come when I come up with something awesome on my own and am so excited to share it with you that all the work going into the post doesn’t feel like work– its fun! That’s what I want more of this year. This blog will probably never be my full time job and I’ll probably never make it to the big time, but that was never my goal anyway so I don’t care. 😉
So if you don’t hear from me now and then don’t worry, I’m still here! I just don’t want to bore you with things just to keep my posting “consistent”. I’m more concerned with consistent quality this year. When you see something new from me I want you to be excited knowing that worked hard on it and is something that I’m extra excited to share! 🙂
