Hello and happy October! It has finally started to cool off a bit here in middle Tennessee and I am loving it! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and favorite season. The crisp air, cool breeze and falling leaves just feels heavenly to me. I long to wear boots and sweaters and scarves and make soup and bread or cuddle up with a hot beverage and a blanket. I sound so typical but it just makes me SO happy! Even a bad day in fall isn’t so bad. 🙂 The last part of my September was really great. Nothing super eventful happened in my life, just the everyday grind. Working, cooking, and loving the simple life. Here are my photos from September 16th-30th! Check out what I’ve been up to lately.
September 16, 2016: Just about every week I’ll ask Ryan to come up with a meal idea that he really wants and I’ll make it for us. Sometimes he just says “I don’t know” or “I don’t care”. The other half of the time he comes up with really elaborate ideas that sound really unhealthy but delicious. 😉 This time he wanted cheesesteak calzones with ground beef and a cheese sauce. Obviously this isn’t health food by any means, but homemade anything is a million times better than store bought things full of additives and chemicals. I made the dough from scratch with organic flour and used pastured beef. That makes it healthy right?
September 17, 2016: I had to share my favorite new dish towel I got from Target. It is SO me. I love it so much. Good $3 spent to get to look at this guy on my oven handle!
September 18, 2016: I love my retro hot air popper. I like to keep popcorn in this old animal cracker tin too. I have a slight obsession with vintage-y decorations, but even better if its functional too!
September 19, 2016: This great big tulip poplar tree sits right outside and I love looking at it, especially as it starts to turn to fall. There are a few early leaves already turning yellow and dropping to the ground. The rest of the tree has some catching up to do.
September 20, 2016: My Mother-in-law/Boss occasionally stops for coffee and brings Ryan and I back a special treat. I had to get pumpkin flavored of course. 🙂
September 21, 2016: If you follow along with my photo project you might remember when I first painted this for our wall, but it looked quite a bit different. Much bolder blue mountains and a orange/red/purple sky. I didn’t really love it and decided one day I would fix the little things I didn’t like about it. I somehow ended up repainting over the entire thing…but now I like it so much more. The more muted colors go along better with the other decor!
September 22, 2016: I made homemade crab + cheese ravioli!! If you’ve never made ravioli before you must try it! Its so much easier than I expected, and only took about an hour. So worth it! I shared my recipe here!
September 23, 2016: I started getting raw milk from a local Jersey farm that’s only about ten minutes from my house. I pick up a gallon every other week. I snapped this over there. The tire swing reminded me of my childhood, as we used to have one in our backyard. I would play on it everyday with my little sister.
September 24, 2016: I have been watching cartoons in the mornings before work recently. Looney Tunes to be specific. I love them so much. 🙂 Relaxing with some coffee and a blanket and Looney Tunes before work is an awesome way to start the day.
September 25, 2016: My new poster! For those who don’t know, I’m from Virginia right in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I grew up going to the Parkway with my family and its one of my favorite places on earth. When I saw this retro Blue Ridge Parkway Poster I had to have it for the wall! It makes me happy and reminds me of great memories.
September 26, 2016: I had to commemorate the crunchy leaves in the front yard. 🙂
September 27, 2016: I got a free bag of matcha powder to sample in exchange for a review on Amazon so I made myself a matcha latte. Does anyone like these? I honestly thought it tasted like dirt, even with honey and flavorings in there. Haha oh well.
September 29, 2016: I made some low sugar pumpkin cinnamon buns for breakfast! They were good but the frosting recipe needs a little tweaking. I guess that means I’ll have to make them again to perfect the recipe for the blog. What a shame. 😉
September 30, 2016: Last Sunday on our day off, Ryan and I went to the Nashville flea market and there was an art booth that has probably hundreds and hundreds of paintings, all different sizes. They were all original art and they were SO affordable. Ryan bought me one and we picked this one. I love it! Our walls are almost complete. 🙂
